Finished Crafts

Worked on the purse/messenger bag for about a year and the shrug for 4 months. I could have had them both done in a week or two. Ah well.

In the first pic of the shrug I was looking at the view window in the mirror... I look kind of psycho.

Al helped with taking pictures of the shrug.

ignore my fat arms please. Actually, that's kind of the reason for the shrug to begin with. I had an idea and my red Provocraft loom and kind of just went with it.

here it looks like a scarf of something

I also bent two needles working on the purse and one of them the tip broke off completely.

The Bag:

The lining with the patch pockets was by far the easiest part of this project. I don't think I'll be making something like this again.

Remember this happy face (few posts back)??

current

Still working (or rather just restarted) on the messenger bag made from jeans. I decided to put a lining in and it's driving me crazy. Seriously?? I've broken one needle and bent another so far. So I'm hand sewing that part now, dammit. It's taking forever. Even though the jeans were too small for me, they are some big honkin jeans at size 42. So that's 42 inches of hand stitching and I SUCK at hand sewing. Guess I'll get it done eventually. Even the strap that I want to make adjustable and don't have the right parts was easier. after I get the lining in, I can go back to the machine though.

Not forgotten

I haven't forgotten this blog. Haven't been in the mood to post any dreams and I haven't been doing much crafty wise. I have a month to get a bunch of stuff done for xmas presents. If you read this, just know, you're getting a hat. That's it and that's all. I need to untangle and finish the thing I was making for Lelly and figure out what colors everyone wants their hats to be in and see if I have that yarn in stock.

Summertime makes me sleepy

Ok, that's a lie. EVERYTHING makes me sleepy. But... I have found the camera charger and I have almost finished the pants and I did find and lose the link to the flower and I haven't done S*** on anything else crafty-wise since my last post. I have a few things in the list though. I should have another post up in a week or so...

The good news is I'm completely (almost, one last teeny-tiny box of misc stuff is tucked next to the couch where it is unseen) unpacked!!

pants

I'm working on sewing a pair of pants. Going well so far, I guess. The zipper was really difficult and the fabric I got for really cheap at a thrift store and while it's really cute, it's unraveling every time I touch it. We'll just have to see how this turns out...

a couple of pics so far

from my cell phone camera. I'll have to find the link for the flower. it's here somewhere I know. yes my feet are not only fat but swollen too. too much salt. The barefoot sandals are the pattern I'm rewriting so it's actually understandable to the actual layperson. I'll take a pic of the beaded ones and post them tomorrow (today??) and get a pic of the two different pairs I made for my mom.

hmm

think i've found one I like. it's quick and easy. (yea I know I said i wasn't going to start any new projects, but it isn't really, it's finishing a project sort of)

anyway, the pattern I found was here originally: Simple Barefoot Sandals --seems like she's moved around a whole bunch--. it's not an easy pattern to understand. (the way people write patterns seems to be the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE, I swear!!!) I'm rewriting it and figuring out a way to add beads so I'll post that and pics of my finished items and email her (maybe) when I'm done too.

quick update

I finished a pair of barefoot sandals for my mom, a baby hat, sweater and booties for a baby shower (the site with the hat pattern is down ), and I finished some loom knit arm-warmers. I'll post pics as soon as I'm done unpacking from my move and know where the heck the charger is (yes, it's lost again).

Oh, yea, I moved!!

Also, I'm DETERMINED to finish all my started projects before I start anything new.

and I'm trying this pattern here next. :)

Also, when I DO start a new project, I'm up in the air on whether I want to do this one: Crochet Kimono or this one on the cover from Just Wraps that I have sitting here and I've been drooling over for a couple years now. It's knitting. I'm better with crochet and the yarn for the knitting one is a bit difficult for me to work with but they are BOTH OH SO FREAKIN CUTE!!!

More wire stuff

This is actually pretty fun!

Playing with wire

I love my local library. I found two books there by Linda Jones, the first one is Making Colorful Wire & Beaded Jewelry, and that's what I've been playing with last night and today.

Squiggly Rings, page 22

Beads with head pin (practice, obviously), page 15

Threading beads on wire, page 14

Spiral Pendant, from Springtime Spiral Necklace, page 78

Everything together so far.

Finally, a ring for my big fat forefinger!!

No big projects for me!!

I say that, and then I join things like the Afghan Collector's Series. I have found three patterns so far that I really want to do.

oh and this one of course:

I can't find my "I"

For whatever reason, my size I-9 crochet hook has been missing for a long time. And of course that is my favorite one for pretty much everything that uses worsted weight yarn.

I found this set here at Walmart Online and it looks pretty cool. If I can swing it this month, I'll get it. I like the idea of ergonomic handles, very muchly.

I need to go have a sex?

SEX - Stash Enrichment eXpedition - the act of going out yarn shopping for the purpose of increasing your stash

I need want some soft black sport weight wool blend yarn. I want to make a bunch of sleep masks. I'm going to use the crappy yarn I've got laying around to fiddle with and experiment with until I come up with a decent pattern in crochet.

Sleep Masks

I get all kinds of inspiration from the web...

This Sleep Mask (which I didn't do a very good job on when I tried the pattern:)

And this "Ball" pattern inspired me to make this:

(Black Felt sewn inside for extra light blocking)

Yeah, I'm kind of strange, I guess. (And I definitely have some serious gauge issues)

I DID IT!! I'VE DONE IT!!

I KNITTED a PAIR OF SOCKS!!! YAY ME!!

ok, ok, so granted they are baby socks and very short, but they still included all the steps and came out oooooo CUTE!!

Neither picture came out anywhere close to the correct color. The yarn was just cheapo baby yarn in a pale blue-green.

I really wish blogger was as user-friendly and easily formatted as my other online journal

Pic

Here you go. My phone camera apparently isn't completely horrid.

Please ignore the paper plate in the corner there, I had just gotten done eating some pizza. (it was very yummy too!)

Inspiration and Execution

Or something. I'm kind of punchy. I have this button. I had these old jeans. I am making a purse/bag sort of thing. I want to learn to embroider. Well, see the pics, I guess.

Just a quick update

Haven't really done any significant work on any the projects I've posted about recently. I am about 40 percent done on a new project I cast on out of my Magic Loop Booklet. If you already have the booklet, it's the wristlets. I'm actually doing ok with this technique. I am starting to like it. I think it helps that this is also my first pair of Addi Turbo circular needles. I love how SMOOOOTH they are. They were expensive (at least for me), but I think they are worth it. Anyway, I've probably jinxed myself in getting this project done now that I've posted about it, but I will EVENTUALLY take some pics and show you how they're coming along.

WAHOOO

Got a set of size 50 needles for broomstick lace, a set of chenille tapestry needles for my current embroidery on jeans project and a set of ADDI TURBOS. and they are every bit as nice as I was hoping/had heard. The magic loop is going SO MUCH easier on them. they were totally worth the money and I might have to buy a new size every month when I get paid. Pics to come soon.

More Yarn!

Got some yarn at Big Lots, of all places. Will charge up the camera and take some pics of my pretties.

oh and the broomstick lace scarf is a few inches longer as well. :)

More Projects on Progress

This one is a scarf I'm doing to practice Broomstick Lace. I didn't have the right needle or "broomstick lace pin" so I sanded the handle of a paint roller and it seems to be doing just fine. And the yarn is just cheap acrylic, so it's ok if it snags a little.

This is an armwarmer I'm doing on the Medium red Knifty Knitter Loom. I've got one done and the next started with some fuzzy red bulky weight Lionbrand yarn from a kit.

Large squares to use up yarn and practice Tunisian Crochet. I'll probably just make a blanket or a bag or something out of the squares.

Triangle one of bikini Top. (No I don't wear bikinis and especially not of wool. It's a long story)

So anyway, that's everything I've got going on right now. I'll try to check back in a week or so to update on my progress. G'NITE!
